30,000 Items Donated: 1,000 Boxes Filled

What an incredible weekend. What an incredible last eight weeks!!

This past Saturday, Jordyn accomplished her goal of filling 1,000 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan’s Purse with over 30,000 items that were donated.

Each box was designated to have: 1 Steak and Shake Paper Race Car with stickers, 4 pieces of construction paper, a medline washcloth, a regular washcloth, 2 toys – 1 big, 1 small, 1 ball, pencils, pens, and a pencil sharpener (435 also had a pencil pouch), toothpaste, 2 toothbrushes, soap, crayons, bandaids, stickers, a bracelet, a comb, and filler items as needed.

About halfway through, we realized we were running low on toys and two of us made runs to The Dollar Tree and Walmart. Not knowing what each other were buying, when everything was brought together, we were able to complete all 1,000 boxes on the nose!! That is COMPLETELY God!! I am SO thankful we found an incredible deal on spiral notebooks and once again Walmart honored the price!! WHEW!!!

Here are a few pics from the day!!

A HUGE thank you to every family and company who donated supplies, and to every family who took time out of their schedules on Saturday to attend our longer-than-advertised Packing Party. Thank you to S and S Taco and QDoba for donating food.

Thank you to all our friends at church who came together and did anything and everything to help this day be successful. You helped get the word out in church, made phone calls for us, sought out donations, brought in donations, picked up shoe boxes, wrapped shoe boxes, zip locked a bazillion bars of soap, stuffed pencil pouches, cut construction paper, folded washcloths, labeled boxes, packed boxes, organized food, kept items stocked, had competitions to see who could pack the most filled boxes in the large GO boxes, ran to the store to get more toys, donated money, loaded the truck, took the boxes to their storage location and unloaded all the boxes, and supported our daughter’s dream in a beautiful way – showing how the body of Christ is supposed to work.

And most of all, thank you GOD for providing everything we needed to care for your children and for continually overwhelming us with your love and compassion.
