Water Walk Challenge

Posted on

Hi friends,

Niger-Water-51-225x300Some friends of mine Gabe and Livvy are raising money to help build a well in Africa so people can have clean water. I think Gabe and Livvy are great people. They are really nice, and look out for each other, and look out for other people around them. They are the kind of people I want to hang out with.

The village they are helping is in Niger and has about 120 families. Even the kids have to walk 6 miles a day to get dirty water. If I had to carry dirty water for 6 miles a day I wouldn’t feel so happy because it would probably be really heavy and it would make me really tired. They use this water to wash, cook, and clean. But, it’s gross water.

And, when the kids have to go help with getting water, they can’t go to school. It is bad they can’t go to school because they need the education to help them to grow a good life. With the fresh water, that will help them be able to go school.

So, when Gabe and Livvy learned about this problem, they wanted to do something about it. I think it’s important for this village to get clean water because they’ve been drinking dirty water for most of their lives. So, I think some fresh water would be wonderful.

Gabe and Livvy are working to raise $13,000 to give to Samaritan’s Purse to make this well. We’ve been talking for a couple months now about their project and they are doing a Water Walk Challenge in a couple of weeks.

They are asking kids from their area to raise money and then they will do a water walk. They will have each kid carry a gallon of water for 2 miles to show people what is is like to have to carry all that water for a long time. Since we don’t live near each other, I want to help them raise money and sponsor kids who are not able to raise money, but still want to be a part of the walk.

I am sure the water walk is going to be fun for the people who are there because people will be with their family and friends. But, it also might be really tough, but worth it, to see how the people in the village need to carry water every day.

I am already doing Lemonade Stands, have talked to my church, and I’m talking to other businesses about donating money. But, will you also help me? My goal is to raise $3,000 since they had to raise their fundraising goal from $10,000 to $13,000 for this project. I really, really, really want to see them raise enough money because I think clean water is important.

If you will help me help my friends help the people in Niger, please click on the Paypal button on the right side of my website to donate. This is a really short fundraiser and will only go through the end of this month. Please also find me on Facebook so you can see what happens.

I’m grateful we have clean water to drink, cook with, clean with, bathe with, and to even fill up a pool. Why are you grateful for water?

Bracelets for Nepal

Posted on

Hi friends, this is Jordyn.

A couple weeks ago, there was an earthquake in Nepal. I first heard about Nepal because Miss Jill went on a missions trip there last year. When I heard about the earthquake, I found out that many people died and many people lost everything they had. If I lost everything I had, I would feel super sad and want someone to help me. If you lost everything you had, how would you feel?

I wanted to go to Nepal and bring some of of my toys, some food, and some blankets to help them. But, I’m not really able to do that. So, I decided to raise money for Nepal so the people can eat and sleep better, and so they can start over. I would like to raise $5,000 to help. I want to help Samaritan’s Purse where I did my Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Love Project and also dōTERRA’s Healing Hands Foundation because both groups are collecting water, food, shelter, and supplies to help the people of Nepal. dōTERRA’s Healing Hands Foundation is also matching every $1.00 raised between now and the end of May. Isn’t that awesome?

Will you please help us by donating some money? I will be making 50 bracelets that I will be giving to the first 50 people who donate at least $20. Thank you so much friends.

Love, Jordyn

The Staycation Jar: St Jude Fundraiser

staycation-coverThe Staycation Jar is on SALE for only $.99 right now to help raise money for Jordyn’s newest Love Project to provide 2,000 toys for the children at St. Jude’s.

The purpose of this book is to give families creative ideas of how to spend quality time together without having to take a big, fancy vacation. Even though sitting on a white beach, or taking in the mountains on a ski trip can be amazing, we found a solution for those (like our family) who have a difficult time planning a vacation far enough in advance to not pay last minute prices. No hotels. No airplanes. No jet lag. Less stress. More spontaneity. No keeping two young children occupied for twelve plus hours of travel, while giving your spouse the death look that says, “We are NEVER doing this again!

The Staycation Jar is filled with 200 Family Fun Ideas in these categories (50 each):

Creative Meals – This idea came from a long-standing family tradition of doing Crazy Dinners. The ideas range from Ice Cream Sundaes for breakfast to eating Candy Apples and watching Snow White, or eating “Dirt in a Cup” while watching Tangled, with some special recipes also linked.

Main Events – The main events will be the major activity for the day. The ideas range from Theme Parks to Cultural Centers, renting a boat/canoe/kayak, museums, aquariums, and Behind the Scene Tours for your favorite Dinner Shows.

Silliness – This category was our attempt to add some laughter and spontaneity to our days. Our ideas ranged from water fights (ours started inside our house – whoops!), finger painting a portrait as a family, writing a story together with each person contributing one line at a time, to sending secret messages with homemade invisible ink.

The Love Projects were my husband’s idea and truly became our favorite category each day. Every day of our Staycations we find fun ways to meet the needs of others, or find someone to help. Some of the ideas range from baking brownies for the Fire or Police Dept, to bringing food and supplies to a local Food Bank, going through a drive thru just to buy lunch for the person behind you, or leaving an extra large tip for a waitress.

All proceeds from The Staycation Jar will continue to go directly to Faith Like A Child, Inc. to help Jordyn with her mission and Love Projects. Will you consider purchasing a copy today and help us spread the word?

Jordyn is $24 away from needing to raise LESS than $1000 to give Jenna and her family this trip to Disney. She is SO close friends!!! She has decided to make a painting for whatever family breaks that $1000 mark.

Here is your chance to always have a piece of Jordyn’s very first Love Project!

To donate, please click on the paypal link on the right! Thanks so much!

UPDATE: Within 5 minutes of each other, 3 people donated to FLAC. Therefore, Jordyn decided to make a painting for all three families. We then received another donation and she decided to make a painting for that family as well. So NOW… Jordyn has decided that she will make a Princess Painting (and have it signed at Disney World) for ANYONE who donates to FLAC today! (Can I have a mommy moment here where I admit that she is making my head spin?!?!)

Jordyn is literally jumping up and down and is so excited to be SO close – less than $900 now AND to top it off, everyone who donates will ALSO be eligible for the HASBRO games or gift cards from our Jan/Feb Fundraiser which runs until February 16th!

“I asked my mama to write a book so I could sell it.” – Jordyn

Yesterday, we received another check from Amazon for $170 for The Staycation Jar. So far, this fundraiser has brought in $860 for Jordyn and has been an easy fundraiser to get people excited about and share with their family and friends.

A few months ago our family compiled our ideas from our own Family Staycation and put together this E-book, for only $2.99.

The Staycation Jar is filled with 200 Family Fun Ideas, with 50 ideas in each of the following categories:

Creative Meals – This idea came from a long-standing family tradition of doing Crazy Dinners. The ideas range from Ice Cream Sundaes for breakfast to eating Candy Apples and watching Snow White, or eating “Dirt in a Cup” while watching Tangled, some special recipes are also linked.

The Love Projects were my love’s idea and truly became our favorite category each day. Every day of our Staycation we would find fun ways to meet the needs of others, or find someone to help.

(The proceeds come out to about $2.10 per book after Amazon takes out their 30% fee!) Will you consider purchasing a copy today and help us spread the word?

Friends, first… thank you so much for each and every person who donated, shared, and helped us get to this point in Jordyn’s first Love Project for Jenna. We are so excited to see so many families come together and love another family, especially when so many of you do not know the Spille Family personally. While we did not reach our ultimate goal of being fully funded by the end of the year, we are SO EXCITED about where we are.

We are now able to purchase all the MAJOR players:

1. Airline Tickets  2. Disney Passes  3. The Dining Meal Plan!!

And…. we already have the Disney Resort BOOKED!!

The rest of the $2000 we need to raise are covering spending money for each person in the family, gifts Jordyn wants to put together (think Easter Baskets), ground transportation to and from the airport, paypal fees, incidentals: such as baggage fees at the airport, wheelchair rental for each day, and miscellaneous expenses that will arise. We have truly tried to think of everything… and each one of YOU are making this possible!

Now, without further adieu… here are the names we drew this morning out of our Jenna Jar, from our December Fundraiser. Thank you so much to each and every person who participated!! We truly appreciate it!
