About one month ago, Jordyn decided she wanted to ask a local school to help her collect donations for Operation Christmas Child. She wrote up her very first email for this project which read:
Hi Mr. Vanderveer,
My name is Jordyn and I am 7 years old. I am the CEO of Faith Like A Child Inc. My mommy homeschools me. I am working on a project for Samaritan’s Purse called Operation Christmas Child. I want to collect and fill 1000 shoeboxes to give to the poor. I will be doing a Packing Party on September 28th. Is there a way you can help me get stuff for the shoeboxes?
What I was thinking is for Kindergarten to collect toys. First grade can collect bars of soap. 2nd grade can collect bandaids. 3rd grade crayons. 4th grade can collect colored pencils. And, we can keep going for all the grades. I also have “All About Me” pages each kid can color to place in the boxes.
Can you call me to talk about this? Thanks you so much! I love you!
This letter became the basis for every letter we then shared with managers all over the Tampa area to collect supplies, toys, hygiene items, and shoeboxes.
Today, we were able to pick up the donations from Ruskin Christian School and we were overwhelmed by their awesomeness!!
The school collected: 49 tubes of toothpaste, 40 toys for girls, 62 toys for boys, 100 items for our filler box (crayon boxes, markers, etc), 98 pencils, 100 bars of soap, and 2,677 bandaids!
Thank you SO much to the staff, students, and families at Ruskin Christian School for your generous and sweet donations for Jordyn’s Operation Christmas Child project. Thank you for sharing your love for Jesus and for helping our 7 year old realize her big dreams of filling these boxes. We are so grateful for your support and willingness to help!
